The Benefits of Microfiber Leather and Why EBMINI® Uses It for Children's Shoes

Microfiber leather is a type of synthetic leather made from a nonwoven microfiber fabric coated with high-quality polyurethane resin (PU).

In the footwear industry, microfiber leather is considered the most advanced and premium form of synthetic leather. It is a significant innovation compared to traditional PU leather, which is simply fabric coated with polyurethane.

What Are the Key Features of Microfiber Leather?

  • Looks and feels like real leather
  • Breathable
  • Antibacterial and odor-resistant
  • Lightweight
  • Water-repellent
  • Eco-friendly
  • Washable

Why Is Microfiber Leather Ideal for Shoes?

In the past, synthetic leather was seen as unsuitable for high-quality footwear — but microfiber leather has changed that.

It is particularly resistant to weather conditions and daily wear, including running and walking over extended periods.

Microfiber leather retains its shape exceptionally well and is extremely durable when properly cared for.

It is also lighter and more water-repellent than genuine leather — making it perfect for everyday wear and outdoor adventures.

More Sustainable with Microfiber Leather

Recognized by PETA as vegan leather, microfiber leather has less than half the environmental footprint of animal leather.

Animal leather causes more than twice the environmental impact compared to polyurethane.

EBMINI® originally used real leather, but the tanning process of animal hides requires chemicals and heavy metals — making it far from eco-friendly.

To ensure more sustainable and safe production, EBMINI® now uses only high-quality microfiber leather in all products.

Tested and Safe – Official Laboratory Certification

Because your child deserves only the best, we regularly have our materials tested by independent laboratories.
